Halloween's True Origins and Some Biblical Viewpoints of It All.

With the holiday of Halloween approaching it's date, we have decided to do some research about the historical and biblical truths about Halloween.
Halloween itself:
Halloween originated mostly from Ireland (the Scots and the Druids played a small part as well).

Before the Catholic church developed during the 5th century in Ireland, October 31st was named 'All Hallows' Eve.'  It was the celebration of the end of summer.  Also considered the harvest time.   So.  We could just leave it at that, and continue to dress as vampires, ghosts, and zombies, or we could look deeper.  I think you know what we decided to do.
On 'All Hallows' Eve,' they believed that dead souls wandered around, looking for living bodies for them to take over and thrive in.  Because of their superstition, they dressed as skeletons and death so that they would puzzle and intimidate the 'spirits.'  On that evening practical jokes and pranks were played on one another.
When the Catholic church developed during the 5th century, November 1st became 'All Hallows Eve,' and November 2nd became 'All Saints Day.'  During November 2nd people would go from door-to-door asking for cakes.  In return for those cakes (in this case a bribe), people would offer prayers for the dead relatives of the household.  They believed that when people died, they went to a 'waiting place,' and until their case was closed, they were not allowed into either heaven nor hell.  They believed that the prayers of the living basically helped God come to a decision.  This could be where the tradition of trick-or-treat came from.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, I don't happen to believe that any soul that was previously a living creature from any source still exists on this earth, not to mention looking for other bodies to thrive in.
Second, is that Yeshua doesn't want us to bribe one another.  He says that it strays a mans mind, and prevents him/her from making a truly sensible decision.  Being humans, we want to experience the best things in life.  It's hard to push that aside.
Third, our opinion doesn't really matter when it comes to a person entering heaven or hell!  In John 3:16 God clearly says:
"For Elohim so loved the world that He gave His only brought-forth Son, so that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but posses everlasting life."
If you read on to John 3:18, you would read this:
"He who believes in Him is not judged, but he who does not believe is judged already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only brought-forth Son of Elohim."
There you have it!  If you trust in Yeshua, your case is closed!  If you don't, then you have to go to His court.  God is a GOOD JUDGE, judging according to HIS STANDARDS.  Not to suppress anyone, but He doesn't need our help.

The Jack-O-Lantern
The Jack-O-Lantern comes from a Irish folklore.  The story goes like this:
A man by the name of Jack tricked ha satan (ha-sah-tahn, the satan) into climbing a tree.  When he was up, he carved a cross in the tree, preventing ha satan from coming down.  Of course, ha satan bribed Jack, saying that if he took the cross off and let him down, he would not allow him into hell.  When Jack died, he wasn't allowed into heaven or hell, therefore banishing his spirit to wander the earth with one candle to light his path.  The candle was put in a turnip so that it would burn longer.
In the 1800's, the turnip was replaced by pumpkins.  The carvings are to represent dead spirits and demons.  The candle inside it was to represent the candle in the story above.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again, a bribe, which strayed Jack's mind into preventing him to make a sensible decision regarding common sense.
Also, I don't think that anywhere in the Bible it says that ANY being of ANY kind can be banished back to the earth.
And, here's this: HA SATAN DOES NOT HOLD THE KEYS OF DEATH!  When Yeshua was crucified for us, He then possessed all authority in heaven and on earth, reclaiming his throne (Matthew 28:18).  I don't know about you, dear reader, but this is an exciting revelation!  HALLELUJAH!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
 The Black Cats
Most believed them to be reincarnated spirits that possessed the power of divination.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Divination: the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means

So.  Not only does this celebration bring much, much fear to people and children, it supports the worship of BLACK CATS!!!!!  Hmm.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 says:
4"Sh'ma Yisra'el, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad [Hear O Israel, Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one]! 5 And you shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might."
Also, in Deuteronomy 5:7-8, are the 1st and 2nd commandments.  Lets see.
" 7'You have no other mighty ones against My face.  8'You do not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of which is in the heavens above, or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in the waters under the earth,"
I think it's pretty obvious that Yeshua is ONE and ONLY.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
What does Hallows' Eve mean?
Hallows' means 'holy,' and eve means 'evening.'
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now the origins of this holiday will add up in this paragraph.
Hiding from zombie spirits, bribing complete strangers, making up God's mind, carving demons, walking with ha satan, and worshipping cats.  And all the time celebrating the day deemed as 'holy' by the pagans.  But truly, it's the "unholy offspring of ha satan himself," as we put it.
By celebrating this holiday, we are not only denying God's word, and Himself, but we are blatantly mocking His word.  His victory.  HE has won the battle of death.  Why should we be part of ha satans counterattack?

This is all the research we have done on this specific subject so far, but please, feel free to do your own research.  And, if you so desire, please comment on what you have already learned.

Here are some bible verses on the subject.  True, they don't mention Halloween by name, but they basically mention everything that has to do with it.

"21You are not able to drink the cup of the Master and the cup of demons, you are not able to partake of the table of the Master and of the table of demons.  22Do we provoke the Master to jealousy?  Are we stronger than He?"                                                            1 Corinthians 10:21-22
"And have no fellowship with the fruitless works of darkness, but rather convict them."  Ephesians 5:11
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."                                      Romans 13:21
"Beloved ones, do not imitate the evil, but the good.  The one who is doing good is of Elohim, but he who is doing evil has not seen Elohim."                                                     3 John 1:11
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim"                                                                                                                        Romans 12:2
"So then subject yourselves to Elohim.  Resist ha satan and he shall flee from you."  James 4:7
"But the spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall fall away from the belief, paying attention to misleading spirits, and teachings of demons,"                                       1 Timothy 4:1
"For the rest, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is righteous, whatever is clean, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is any uprightness and if there is any praise - think on these."                                       Philippians 4:8
"Do not become unequally yoked with unbelievers.  For what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness?  And what fellowship has light with darkness?"                2 Corinthians 6:14
Here are some more verses for you to look up.  I know there's a lot, but please, do read them.

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22, Deuteronomy 18:9, 1 Peter 5:8, Leviticus 20:27, Exodus 22:18, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Jeremiah 10:2, Galatians 5:9-20, Ephesians 4:27, Hosea 4:6, 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 5:7, Romans 13:12, Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Micah 6:12

Also, please note that we are not judging anyone for the decision they have made.  We are just sharing what we have learned and our thoughts on the matter.

Shalom to you all, and have a blessed weekend!

  3. Truly horrible! You are right; the origin of Halloween is completely pagan, and that's all there is to it. We are not supposed to worship any God but Yahweh, or hang around demons and Satan. Interesting how the entire year we're always saying, "Stay away from Satan, he's bad, he'll trick you, ect." And then just one day in the year, everybody says, "Hey, I have an idea! Let's go hang out with Satan!" What? It's crazy!
