The Mulberry Tree

In our backyard we have a great big mulberry tree. Every year our tree gets bigger and bigger with more and more mulberries each time. Sometimes this is a blessing, other times it just gets in the way. For example, your sitting in it's shade and thinking I love our tree, when all of a sudden a huge black berry lands with a SPLAT on your favorite white shirt. Lets just say that you now have a purple polka-dot shirt instead. Or when you walk in through your back door and realize you have tracked purple footprints all over your freshly mopped kitchen floor. Oh, happy day. But it is nice to have a great snack to munch on pretty much whenever you want. Picking them isn't so bad either. Sure beats dishes, or re-mopping the kitchen floor... Youngsters really love to pick them and stuff as much of the juicy fruity goodness into there mouths as possible. I love watching them! The best part is Mom's amazing mulberry jelly. Now that is a happy day!

I like to watch our tree when the winds blow and the branches sway in time to it's rhythm. Or when it rains and all it's fruit falls to the ground. It reminds me of myself. When a great storm blew through my life, and knocked all my fruit down, I felt empty. But now, YHVH has brought forth a new harvest. Even greater than before. Just like our mulberry tree.
